Questions

Registered-agent FAQ

Can I buy an agent before I form my business?

Yes. Choose the forming-business option. After payment, use the agent name and address we provide in the formation filing you submit. The $99 purchase covers registered-agent service; company formation and its filing fees are separate. No change-of-agent fee applies to this option.

Who files the change when I switch agents?

CivicNest prepares and submits the change-of-agent filing for your existing business. Any applicable state filing fee is shown before payment and passed through at cost. We contact you if more information is needed and email you when the state accepts the appointment.

What does registered-agent service include?

Your purchase includes 12 months of registered-agent service to receive qualifying legal and government notices and forward them through the service. Company formation, annual-report filing, and legal advice are not included.

What will I pay now and at renewal?

Your first year of registered-agent service costs $99. If you are switching an existing business, add the applicable state filing fee shown before payment. Service renews annually at the then-current price until cancelled; the first-year price is not a fixed renewal price.

What happens after I pay?

Your confirmation email and order status page provide your registered-agent details and receipt. For an existing business, CivicNest handles the change filing and emails you when the state accepts it. If you are forming a business, use those agent details in the formation filing you submit. Payment confirmation does not mean the state has accepted a filing.
